Huércal-Overa
is a very city like town located in upper Almería,
bordering Murcia.
It is indeed a border land; it has participated in events
from different cultures and is renowned for having served
as the connecting bridge between different civilazations
along its history.
It has become the centre of the region as regards public
and private services and amenities. It is worth mentioning
the thriving agricultural sector, which includes lettuce,
tomatoes, watermelons, citrus fruits, olives and almonds.
During the cold rainy days in winter, people cook bread
crumbs with red pepper soup, fried sun-dried tomatoes
and peppers, and fish accompanied by good local winery.
