Huércal-Overa is a very city like town located in upper Almería, bordering Murcia.


It is indeed a border land; it has participated in events from different cultures and is renowned for having served as the connecting bridge between different civilazations along its history.


It has become the centre of the region as regards public and private services and amenities. It is worth mentioning the thriving agricultural sector, which includes lettuce, tomatoes, watermelons, citrus fruits, olives and almonds.


During the cold rainy days in winter, people cook bread crumbs with red pepper soup, fried sun-dried tomatoes and peppers, and fish accompanied by good local winery.
